# I separated my Monstera Deliciosa to 4. I was a bit nervous as I did…

I separated my Monstera Deliciosa to 4. I was a bit nervous as I did this in 2 different sessions. The most recent was separating the 2 large stems only a few days after the first separation (separating 2 smaller stems from it). I’m hoping so much disruption will not affect it too much, though I’m preparing myself for a bit of stress period). My question is regarding the higher roots coming from exposed stems. When I separated them, most of the exposed roots all withered. Is this normal or a bad sign? Here are my separated plants. You see on the close up that I cut some of the roots and the one that will need to be cut soon… should I worry?

The aerial roots will bounce back. I accidentally stepped on one and the end withered but it proceeded to grow an offshoot that did fine.

Good to know. Thanks!
