Rehab Help!

Hey yall! I received a monstera for free as a rehab and it’s struggling a bit more than I thought. It was originally in soil and I transitioned it to water like a month ago. I’m getting some new roots but nothing is looking any better.

Should I just keep letting it do its thing like this or would a different approach be more successful? TIA!

Oh I should add, the leaves came to me in their current state

The leaves that are super damaged I’d remove, so it’s not trying to heal itself and it’s focused on root growth.
