# Greetings! I’ve seen people mention “suckers” in reference to…

Greetings! I’ve seen people mention “suckers” in reference to Monsteras but I don’t know what that means. I have four Monstera plants so can someone please teach me? Here is a neat pic of two leaves that unfurled side by side, one very fenestrated and one totally Un.

New growth at the bottom of the plant are called suckers because they are taking energy away from the main body of the plant. Some people cut them off and others don’t. Personally, I cut the little suckers off.

I cut them off too. They’re freeloaders.

Why aren’t they new stem/plants? Do they hurt the main plant?
