# I timed planting this monstera by seed where it actually sprouted…

_Opslået af Evil Plant Dad den 2024-03-07_

I timed planting this monstera by seed where it actually sprouted within 2 days of my son being born! It’s been putting out leaves on his month marker so there’s always a new leaf for each new month of his life. I’ve been watching the 5th leaf coming out and today, 4days after his 5month mark, I see this.

I had thought this whole time it was solid but not any more! 5months for fenestrations! I don’t know if that’s fast or not but I feel accomplished! Can’t wait to see this thing in its full glory in a week or two from now!

Edit: while using ChatGPT to ask what the average time it takes for these to form I found out they’re called incisions, fenestrations are only the holes in the center of the leaf.

Wow!! You either have the best care in the world, or you hit the genetic plant lottery! Either way, good job and congratulations ☺️

Aw that’s awesome! I’m impressed your plant is alive after having a newborn, let alone thriving! Nice job 🤩

Interesting, I didn’t know that about incision vs fenestration. I guess that makes sense because fenestration comes from the Latin word for window. The leaf breaks do look more like cuts that windows

That’s so funny because I learned it was from the French word for windo fenetre but the Latin version is 1. More similar to the word 2. More likely to be the real root

Thanks for that!

All the western European languages share everything, am I right? 😂 I took Latin in high school, so that’s my pool of knowledge. It helps me to learn scientific names some times!
