# Hello all! New to the plant world and need help with my new baby!…

_Publié par NewbPlantMama le 2024-07-09_

Hello all! New to the plant world and need help with my new baby! Judging from the pictures, how healthy is this plant? Also, I’ve been told that I have more than one plant here, how can you tell? Lastly, I’ve read that monstera plants have faces, which way does my plant face? I’ve had her for about 5 days, and I’ve yet to water or repot, just for a bit of background. Also, I have her in an East-facing window

Here’s a pic to show the different plants in there! I think I got it right but it’s hard to tell, especially since they’re so close together. It’s up to you if you want to separate them or keep them together

It does look healthy btw! And it’s hard to tell the front/back since there are multiple plants. But look for aerial roots since those are usually the “back” of the stem

You’re amazing; thank you! Any soil suggestions? Or should I leave it be for now?

Happy to help! Yep I agree with eatyacarbs - bark and perlite are great to mix in. Monstera roots love oxygen and they can even absorb moisture just from the air, so they love chunky soil.

Repot! Something chunky and well draining. I know nodes uses a reeeeally chunky mix — mine is in fox farm ocean forest with extra fir bark and perlite, plus a moss pole. The key is to make sure it’s well draining.

After you repot you’ll want to wait it out and let her adjust, but an east facing window is a great place for her — good luck!!
