# So I have a mini monstera a Swiss cheese plant that I just fertilized…

_Posted by 🪴 Botanical Bekka🌵 on 2025-03-03_

So I have a mini monstera a Swiss cheese plant that I just fertilized \& they seem happier, my question is am I supposed to throw a couple moss poles and them so they can crawl on it? My swiss cheese doesn't seem to be getting taller? Thank you so much

The second pic is actually raphidophora tetrasperma. Often called mini monstera but actually a completely different species.

You know I had a question about the one I called the Swiss cheese when I was looking around I was noticing is that actually what is called a monkey mask and not a Swiss cheese plant also?

#### Abbi replied on 2025-03-04

So I had actually never heard it called monkey mask before I got on planta. I had heard it called swiss cheese, but the bigger monstera deliciosa is also called that so I usually just refer to these as adansoniis to avoid confusion😆

I see the names interchanged a lot. Usually monstera deliciosa is referred to as Swiss cheese plant. And monstera adansonii is referred to as monkey mask. And rhaphidophora tetrasperma as mini 'monstera'

And I had only heard adansoniis as swiss cheese😂 the first time I heard someone call a deliciosa a swiss cheese I was like huh, that is not a swiss cheese where are you🤨😂

Agree with the ID... both love to climb. Either moss poles or a trellis type set up

I just watched this excellent video that explained everything I find confusing about moss poles. His channel is great!

I can’t post the link, but look up “MY ULTIMATE MOSS POLE GUIDE” by SydneyPlantGuy

Thank you yes because I have a Jade pothos that came with a Mosa pole already in it and it still confuses me haha I'm like what is the big string for and how big of one should I buy I'm so confused should I moisten it for humidity which is usually what I do I spray it to try to keep it human I'm going to watch this video thank you so much I'm glad it's not just me 🧐💸🤣💯

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one confused about the names either coming into these plant groups I'm finding a handful of implants are not what I thought they were or what I was told they were lol

It doesn't help that a lot of the Plant id are terrible 😆 and I've seen people argue about it when they're told it's wrong.

I tend to use Google Lens to try to ID plants then I do the plant identifiers out there LOL
