# Bought this guy in February this year. Repotted today and have…

Bought this guy in February this year. Repotted today and have managed to get aerial roots to wrap around moss pole. The moss pole is actually moss and I can build up pole section by section as and when needed. Apart from keeping moss misted is there anything else I need to do outside regular watering/feeding?

So the aerial roots won’t really wind around or stick to that, but if you get a fill-able moss pole they will grow IN to that, and the extra stability will yield larger leaves, especially with ample light.

I personally prefer a fill-able style with a plastic backing — moss poles can be tough to keep moist and kind of useless if they’re bone dry — and the plastic back helps to maintain that hydration. Good luck!

The poles are moss over plastic tubing. If I nick the moss
and insert the root, would the root produce sub roots/ root hairs to gain extra moisture?
I know the ones you use but have struggled to find.

It’s really not likely. A moss pole like this one you have provides support the same way a stake does, which is fine! But if you’re wanting the roots to anchor you’ll need a true moss pole.

You can buy sphagnum moss at a big box store like home depot. I got the plastic moss pole kit on amazon for less than $20

Do you pack yours with just moss or use soil as well.? I’m over in uk so have found frames on Amazon and will look for moss. Really appreciate advice I’m only 12 month into having plants but loving the learning

Looks like you’re getting some good advice here. If you want some YouTube channel suggestions for sphagnum moss poles - Sydney Plant Guy and Leca Queen are great!

Moss pole update. All three arial roots in the moss. Will spray when Ezio (the plant) gets a moisture spray.
