# Hello everyone, I am new to the plant community and I have this…

Hello everyone, I am new to the plant community and I have this gorgeous Monstera named Marissa. We call her Rissa for short.  
Anyway, my lovely gal is starting to get these black spots on her and I was wondering why, what should I do about it, and should I cut those spots off or leave them?

Pls help save rissa!

There are many here who are much better with monstera, but to me it looks like maybe sunburn? Maybe the light is too harsh?

She usually sits in the shade, I just placed her there for the photo. I was thinking overwatering?

Watering often does seem to be an issue with plants. I bought a watering meter for less than $15 on amazon and it has helped with that immensely!

Think if you over water them it does that. Mine are not near direct sunlight and it has these. Since we have the air on now the soil retains moisture so I try not water to often
