# Hellllp. I got this baby Swiss cheese Monstera. I put in direct sun…

_Posted by Mrs. Tebo on 2025-07-25_

Hellllp. I got this baby Swiss cheese Monstera. I put in direct sun (East facing) it got sun burnt leaves. (I assume from the brown spots). Set it back for indirect sun, now the main leaf is yellowing, wilted and dying. Do I cut half of the main leaf or will it kill the whole thing?

It is putting out a new leaf (middle right) The last new leaf got stuck and died (I was on vacation). Should I take it out and just Hydro? Can they hydro?

I had one hydro and then I potted it and it did sorta that same thing.. people on here told me it was shock from the change but I put it back in water and it's doing better.

Thank you! I think I’ll do that instead. Hoping the small leaves still survive. Think I should cut half of the left leaf? I don’t think it’ll come back. Or leave it?

Could you be over watering it? Plastic pots like to retain water more so the soil doesn’t dry out as quickly. Those Monstera adansonii like to dry out completely before receiving a new saturation.

I’m glad you mentioned that! Planta app had me watering it every 7-9 days but I hesitated with it still being damp. I’ll snooze the next watering!
