chopping \& propping my monstera…. can/will the stubs grow? or should i just toss it?

The stubs will definitely grow with the right care. I recommend continuing to water and fertilize as you previously did and as long as the stubs don’t turn mushy or completely shrivel I would keep watering them. It may take a few months but I’m confident they will grow.

This has been my experience! One stump had some root rot so I trimmed and cleaned it, put it in aroid mix, and watered sparingly until it seemed like I'd conquered the rot. Then I gave it a little more water with fertilizer and a little superthrive and it's currently on its second leaf. Another I put in fluval \& perlite and it's got one leaf now.
