It’s an aerial root and yes

Def should be redirecting your aerial roots into the soil! Your plants will thank you later!

If it’s close enough to the soil, definitely help redirect it so it grows into the soil. There’s no reason why you should not.

The more roots the better! The more roots that a plant has the more nutrients and water it is getting. Which equals happy plants.
