Hi, I'm new to this group. I was given a Monstera as a gift a year or so ago. I was told the leaves won't split until it matures. How long does it take to mature? I didn't know these needed to be pruned. How often do I need to do that?

They don’t need to be pruned. That would be your personal preference. It will mature when it gets a ton of light in order to fuel its photosynthesis. It can start to fenestrate within months if the conditions are right. You have to remember that this is a tropical plant
