my monstera used to have so many leaves and it was really healthy but since the summer it lost most of the leaves, even though some of them were only just growing in. any advice on how to recover it?

Have you ever repotted it? Looks overwatered maybe 🤔. I’d repot- you can check the roots for root rot. Cut any mushy ones off. You can spray with diluted peroxide and let the roots dry a bit. Then repot into a well draining soil, I like to add perlite to regular potting mix. Also, depending on root size you may need to go down a size. I prefer terra cotta for good air circulation. I like to let my plants butt chug their water 🤣 if they are small enough. You place the whole pot into a container with water. Doesn’t have to fit the whole plant. And let it suck up the water it needs that way. If you use terra cotta you can see the waiter line, where it holds the moisture ( and therefore also when it’s dry). Hope that helps. Maybe others have a different diagnosis and solution 🫡

i’d suggest plastic nursery pots for monstera; since their roots are monsters too, you might end up with a broken terracotta pot.
also, there’s no need to dilute peroxide for spraying rotten roots if it’s the typical topical 3% hydrogen peroxide solution. just spray the roots, plant, and water

use the smallest pot possible for this plant. monstera like to be snug in their pot and too much excess soil will typically lead to root rot. make sure the soil you choose has lots of chunky amendments for drainage, like perlite, pumice, and fir bark chips (“orchid bark”)

another tip for monsteras: when you get those aerial roots, put a glass of water under them and they’ll grow into it!
