hello! i’m pretty new to plants outside of pathos and wanna expand my green thumb. i’ve had this adansonii for a little over a month now and i haven’t seen these brown spots go away since taking care of it. just wondering if y’all may have any idea what may be causing this/how to fix it ?

First, check for pests. Any fungus gnats in top inch of soil… any thing on the back of leaves or any little spider webs ? If not, are you a mister? I learned the hard way not to mist any plants… humidifier instead!!! And then air flow for 1-4 hours a day like a fan… but still keep humidifier on. I got spots all over my leaves from misting unfortunately, that’s an old thing that was done and needs to stop… this app suggests it in the care but if you click on it to read it even says new studies show misting doesn’t even do anything but open you up to diseases like fungus \& bacteria.

i just double checked for any pests\&webs and don’t see any but when you say not to mist does this mean to not get the leaves wet at all? i do not mist but i am lackadaisical when watering and kind of just pour it over - it definitely touches the leaves. and i also have a humidifier in the same room but should it be facing my monstera ? it’s about 20 ft away from it atm. thanks for the help!

So my humidifier is facing my tropicals… if it starts to get them wet I move it back, and turn on the fan. I had a problem with fungus because I was misting and not getting enough air flow so I researched misting and it’s not a good thing like many say (I believe it’s only good for outside plants or in greenhouses) however I will take a damp cloth and wipe all my leaves down! Every week or so! It helps keep them clean from pests and allows them to take in light.

Oh and the only leaves that shouldn’t get wiped are ones that are hairy… an example would be the purple passion vine (one of my favs)
