# It’s been two weeks since it’s been in a jar with lecas but I’m not…

It’s been two weeks since it’s been in a jar with lecas but I’m not sure if I see any changes… I can’t tell if my monstera is doing ok 😢 weird brown parts and tip of aerial roots peeling. Is it ok for me to cut the aerial roots? I don’t think I can fit this in a pot with such long aerial roots.

Oh nooo 😱 does that mean it’ll eventually die? And I can’t do anything about it????
I purchased the lecas for these Thai constellation monsteras.. I found this method on YouTube 😩😩

It might not make it since the rot is very close to the node. But you can still try! I would cut off any part of the stem and root that’s black and mushy. Dip the fresh cut spots in hydrogen peroxide. Some people use cinnamon, but I personally think in leca it just gunks up the water. Some people use super glue to seal the fresh cut, but I haven’t tried that yet. I hope you can salvage it! Oh and while you’re at it, rinse the leca and jar well, you can use hydrogen peroxide for that too. Make sure there’s no piece of rotten root remaining that might foul up the water again

Also also, it looks like there’s rot on the petiole connecting to the leaf too. I would let the leaf go (I know it’s hard cause they’re so pretty 🥲). Carefully peel it off. The most important part to save is that little bud coming out of the section where the stem and the petiole meet

When I saw your message I acted right away. Truthfully I’m not confident I could save it but I will try 🥲 thank you so much for your tips. I learned the hard way 😭

If you’re gonna do leca, make sure no part of the root or stem is touching the water or it will definitely rot. Are you using any nutrient in the water to encourage root growth?
