Hi all! Im new ish to keeping Monstera, espically the TC. This is my first one, and I know they are prone to root rot, so I am wondering if my substrate mix is optimal. Ive mixed 3 equal parts: soil, perlite and sphagnum moss.

Its been retaining moisture well but im concerned that this will lead to rot root? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks all and happy holidays!

I would have done bark instead of the moss. You want it to drain quickly and I imagine the moss would hold on to the water keeping the soil moist longer.

agreed. though chopped sphagnum does create some air pockets in the soil, it holds on to much more moisture than is necessary for drought-resistant plants like monstera. fir bark or coco chunks are a great amendment for airy soil

Thank you both for the insight. I will certainly repot with coco bark instead of the moss.
