# Took a top cutting from a monstera to propagate in water but I’m…

Took a top cutting from a monstera to propagate in water but I’m going to have to cut the aerial roots to make it fit. From my understanding the aerial roots grow from nodes. So the new water roots will grow from there right??? 😬

Don’t cut aerial root. When in water it will keep growing into roots.  
Water should make it sprout roots. Sun as well. I’ve also used root powder if needed.  
You also might try leca or one of those instead of water. Might be better beens the aerial root is already so long.

Thx. I kept reading the Aerial roots could rot if placed in water

It can if left too long or the water is changed regularly.
