# This is my first monstera… i got this from lowe’s (almost a month…

This is my first monstera… i got this from lowe’s (almost a month ago) and some of the leaves were in bad shape, so i cut those off. another leaf is much smaller and looks cut off, but i kept that one on because it was a sturdy leaf.

Anyway, I noticed one of the roots to that odd leaf has become very soft and seems dead. Should I cut this leaf off or any other suggestions? I also wonder if it’s in too big of a pot. The roots seemed root bound when i first go it, so i did knock off some of the dirt and tried to separate the roots the best i could (picture attached was when i first got the plant)

Any advice helps!

That sounds like rot to me. Could be worth trying to get it into a chunkier soil mix and cutting off any soft roots. The rest of the roots look beautiful!

If your plant came in that pot just leave it , your pot looks fine. Don’t overwater,light room but not staring at the sun.

Monstera’s love being root bound! but it could use just a little bit bigger of a pot.
