Please help! 🥲

These are the last 3 leaves my monstera’s put out.

She was given to me around a year ago propagated \& has been living in water ever since.

Until a month or so ago, she’s stayed inside (part sun/temp ranging from 68-75 degrees) in or next to a window where she’s lost 1 leaf \& given me 2 (1 split \& 1 very small/unhealthy).

She’s now on my enclosed porch (full sun/temp ranging 70-100 degrees) \& just last week I noticed the most recent leaf was unfolding.

Does she need to be repotted into dirt? Has anybody had success with letting their monstera live in water longterm?

Have you been fertilizing her with hydroponic fertilizer? Water does not have the nutrients a plant needs to stay in water longterm ☺️ I’m still experimenting myself, but these are the ones I have ☺️ I also use the liquid dirt in my soil potted plants every time I water per their directions and things have been going well!

Thank you!!! I do follow the fertilizing schedule but this is all I have/use. Do you cycle through them or use a specific one more than others? I’m new to being a plant mom, I’ve collected around 40 in the last year but still trying to figure out how to best care for a few of them. 🙃

Yeah, I definitely think the nutrients may be the problem. I don’t think the miracle gro solution is good for hydroponic plants. I actually only use the hydroponic nutrient drops as pictured - I’ve kinda considered it my “one and done” product as a low maintenance plant enthusiast - and I’ve had good results so far! I keep my hydroponic plants under artificial grow lights however. I also haven’t had good success with my monstera outside - i find they can’t even handle the Washington heat, and get droopy. If they’ve been indoors, they usually thrive best in that environment. I also keep a humidifier running for the 8 hours the grow lights are on as well.

I so t follow the fertilizer schedule in Planta because the two I use (and I use both on all my plants both in soil and water) I put in every time they are watered or I change out their water ☺️ the superthrive gets diluted in my watering can, and the liquid dirt gets diluted per the instructions and then put on top of the soil after I water ☺️ I haven’t used the other much yet

I would watch for algae growth now that it’s in full sun. You could always put it into a non see through container to help prevent that and protect the roots as well. Not sure how long your temps are at 90-100 but as rainforest plants, monsteras do best a bit cooler than that.

As far as the leaves go, if monsteras start producing leaves without fenestrations, it means they aren’t getting enough light, so it looks like you’ve addressed that issue!
