# Hello! I won this Thai constellation monstera at an auction and it…

_Lagt ut av Nic den 2023-08-04_

Hello!

I won this Thai constellation monstera at an auction and it was doing great until about 2.5 weeks ago. Her leaves are browning at the edges and one leaf has turned yellow. There is a grow light above her, she’s only watered about 1x a month (last watered 2-3 days ago), and is next to a south facing window. We have not used any fertilizer as I’m too scared to do anything I’m not familiar with. We have her with a bunch of other plants and two humidifiers next to the plants.

Is there anything wrong with having a humidifier in at all time?

Please help me save her 😭 thank you!

Maybe try distilled water when you water? If you have especially hard water or the ph balance is off, that can have an effect on sensitive plants.

It could be an issue with the roots either bugs or some sort of rot problem. If it comes down to it as a last ditch effort to save the plant you could cut the last leaf with a node attached and start new in some water! A little bit of fertilizer won’t do anything negative to the plant but you might see if that helps any!

Yeah I suspect root rot since Thai cons are so susceptible to root rot!

And overwatering.

Watering once a month could be causing rot, I would say water every 10-14 days or so! I water mine once a week. The roots will be getting so dry and then suddenly having water after so long will make them very prone to rot! You may need to check the roots, take of the dirt and cut off any black/soft roots, perhaps spray the roots with hydrogen peroxide to help with any rot if there is any. Give it some fresh airy soil as well! Good luck!
