# My monstera grows new leaves very often, and the other leaves don’t…

_Posted by Edith on 2023-08-01_

My monstera grows new leaves very often, and the other leaves don’t seem to be getting any bigger. The stems also seem to be getting longer and there are lots of aerial roots. Any suggestions on how to fix this ? I have a moss pole but I have no idea where to place it since there are so many leaves and they’re all very long. Any help is greatly appreciated \<3

They grow better when you simulate their natural environment: add a moss pole, regularly repot to grow the root ball, feed and increase humidity.

The moss pole is to support the main stem ☺️ this is a pic of mine

Newer leaves will grow bigger and split more if the pole provides a source of moisture for the arial roots. This means soaking the pole before installing, pressing it against the arial roots and keeping it moist. The arial roots will eventually wrap around the moist pole.

I had no idea to soak the moss pole before inserting it! Ill be sure to do that. Thanks for the advice!

I’ll add that a moss pole (that you water) will increase leaf size, but you will ALWAYS have to keep it moist. I opted to “just” support mine and it’s doing well…
