# Do you guys mist your monsteras with filtered water or distilled…

Do you guys mist your monsteras with filtered water or distilled water? I’ve been using filtered water and I’m noticing that the leaves on my monstera are starting to get a lime buildup on them. I’m trying to clean it off but it’s not easy. Is distilled water worth the money?

I personally don’t mist any of my plants. It doesn’t do anything for the humidity long term enough to make a difference. All of my plants get tap water or rain water if I have it. Distilled water would only be critical for carnivorous plants.
If you are worried about the cleanliness of your plants, you can shower it with water when you water it, either with the hose outside or with the shower head in the bathroom. Or you can take a microfiber cloth and wipe it with a solution. I personally buy one called Leaf Wellness, but you can use neem oil or lemon juice diluted with water

The reason why I mist my monstera is because the leaves were getting crispy bc it wasn’t humid enough. Since I’ve been misting, the baby leaves have been living and I haven’t seen any leaves turn crispy. I have seen that misting isn’t super effective, so maybe something else I changed is what’s been beneficial to my plants

I’d recommend a humidifier if you think the misting is the main factor. Crispy leaves can also mean an underwatering problem if I had to guess. Or maybe it’s getting too much direct sun
