# Are my shoots dead? What is happening? I have one shoot growing…

Are my shoots dead? What is happening? I have one shoot growing beautifully and then I haven’t noticed this one even grow anymore than it has!  
Then I have a small leaf? Is that normal?

So in picture one with just the small leaf circled: that looks like the oldest leaf on the plant which is normal to be the smallest (unless it’s a new, recently grown leaf, which means it sprouted from a node and is a new growth point in which case congrats)

As for the second picture with part of the bigger leaf circled: that just looks like the sheath where a previous leaf as unfurled from. New leaves won’t come from this area of the plant after it’s already put out a leaf.

Typically Thai constellations only grow from their main stem and don’t commonly sprout new growth points from a node unless they’ve been cut.

I do believe that when I got this beautiful thing he already had the small leaf! That’s really cool though regardless! I’ve been learning so much as I’m doing this I appreciate any advice! Definitely gonna look more into this because I would eventually love to propagate and grow more Thai cons and gift them to some family I’d know would love them
