Hi everyone! I have had my monstera for about 4-5 months, and it has grown so much! Proud beginner plant mom over here.
I noticed it has large roots coming out the bottom of the inner pot, which from what I’ve read means I need to transfer it. If it still looks healthy, do I still need to replant? The leaves are starting to look like they are getting a little smushed. Do I transfer the entire monstera to a new pot or try to propagate smaller ones from it? It has been strong and I do not currently have a support post but it doesn’t seem to need one. Is that required at this point? Any advice on keeping this beauty going would be much appreciated.

This is going to be an amazing plant! But yes definitely repot. When I repot my Monstera I have a habit of loosening the root ball so the roots can thrive in the new soil/pot, seems to be working for me. I wish you the best with the plant!

YES, repot! It’s nice and healthy, it’ll transfer to a new pot easily. 🥰

Fit the pot to the size of the root ball not the height of the plant. Good light helps new growth and fenestrations (the holes in the leaves). Monstera deliciosa eventually get too big for moss poles, in my opinion. I prefer green gardening stakes from Home Depot (you can buy them at various heights-4,5,6 feet, etc). For smaller plants, a 3 foot bamboo stake off Amazon would do. Also, less messy than a moss pole. And Velcro gardeners tape is easier than using string. This photo is only two years of growth. They grow quickly with good light. I fertilize with dyna gro foliage pro, which I think is super thrive foliage pro now.
