# Got this pink princess today she was the only one and she was marked…

_eliana님이 2025-03-02에 게시함_

Got this pink princess today she was the only one and she was marked pretty cheap because I think she’s on more on the dying side and I was wondering if anyone had any tips to bring her back to life or her fullest potential?

It doesn't look too bad. I'd remove any dead or dying leaves. And then unpot to check the roots for rot. They like a well draining soil, and a fair amount of humidity, especially when they pop a leaf, i spray mist until they fully emerge

should i repot her? do you have a soil recommendation for philodendrons? i have this tropical soil with lava rocks in it to make it chunky but i could add perlite but if not i could buy a new one

If there's not something inherently wrong with the soil, I usually wait a month or so before repotting. (Reasons I'd repot right away would be lots of coir or peat as it stays too wet in my place, and coconut coir/husk isn't always buffered so can lead to salt poisoning. Or if it's like hoping wet. For most of my tropical I use a mix of Fox farm soil mix, charcoal, worm castings, perlite, bark #3 or #4, gypsum, and akadama or pumice or leca balls. Sometimes it's a matter of what I have lying around 😆 🤣 it ends up looking like this, or about this.

The leca, akadama, perlite or pumice is to increase root aeration and water drainage. Yhe gypsum is a calcium source and aids in drainage. The worm castings give nutrients... oohh also Mycorrhizal which is beneficial fungi and bacteria to help root growth and really helps with transplant shock

It sounds like what you have would be good with adding perlite. As long as the 'soil' part isn't super heavy on peat. If retaining moisture is an issue in your place
