cutting off flowers is not necessary and i don’t recommend it. the plant worked so hard to produce that flower for you and it’s just sad to cut it off. don’t believe everything from the social media influencers!!

\& aglaonema’s are known to flower more frequently (:

It’s recommended by a lot of plant owners because if one doesn’t like the flowers (and some react poorly to the sap that comes from the flowers on this plant in particular), cutting them off will tell the plant to produce more leaves or focus on developing new leaves instead. It’s completely up to you as to if you want more flowers or leaves, though. And for some that react to the sap, which I’ve seen described as feeling like “broken fiberglass on your skin”, I can understand why some might want to reduce the risk of getting the sap on their hands. Not everyone has that reaction, but if you ever do, it isn’t a bad idea to reduce the risk of future contact with the sap. Hope this helps! 😉

i also wouldn’t recommend removing a bloom. cutting the flowers off can mess with the plant’s hormones. also, anytime we prune or trim a plant we’re leaving an open wound, and this presents risk for infection. i try to avoid cutting plants if at all possible, and sometimes i find it ideal to snap or break off pieces rather than snip.
it’s ok to do if you really don’t want to see a flower, but i’ve always thought it’s healthier to allow the plant to go through its natural cycle.
