# A good friend let me adopt this lantana due to not being able to take…

A good friend let me adopt this lantana due to not being able to take it with her when she moved. Any lantana advice from more experienced plant carers? I want to help this plant thrive! Should I keep it in a pot or plant it in the ground, friends?

I know this doesn't answer your question, but I reaaaally love Lantana. I stop by every Lantana I see whenever I visit nurseries. You are lucky!! 🌿(and your Lantana is lucky to have you!) hope your Lantana thrives!!!!

Thank you so much!!! Yes it is such a pretty plant and a real head turner! I’m excited to have it!!! I will do my best to take care of it :)

Lantanas are hardy plants that flower all summer. Easy care and don’t like a lot of fuss especially when planted in the ground.

The major problem is their toxicity. Every part of it is toxic. Ingesting parts of the plant, especially the green berries, can cause liver failure and shortness of breath plus vomiting and diarrhea. The leaves cause a rash. I removed all the ones planted along my driveway after my son was a toddler and old enough to play on the driveway. He was attracted to the colors. Wear disposable gloves. Safely dispose of dead leaves and berries.
