# Good afternoon, Planta residents! 🚨 My Alocasia Micholalitzina…

_Lagt ut av thekintsugidav den 2024-04-04_

Good afternoon, Planta residents! 🚨

My Alocasia Micholalitzina Maxkowskii is dying FAST. While repotting I accidentally tore the oldest root and left her with very minute and small roots (about two-three inches)

I am considering ripping the oldest leaf out of the two so the newer has a better chance at surviving. Should I leave it? Is there any way to bring it back?

First: don’t panic. Second: don’t panic. Hehe third: if the rest of the leaves fall off, I would restart the plant in water or semi-hydro as if it were a propagation. Plants like Alocasia and anthurium can come back after throwing a leafless tantrum!

This is her second time doing so. I’m over the theatrics, wholeheartedly. Thanks for the pointers though!

Gotchya. You’re not the only one! Lots of people lose their spark with these dramatic plants

If there are very little roots… I would highly recommend Fluval stratum “propagation.” That should help the plant re-develop the roots while providing nutrition and support in the time being.

I was on the fence about propagation due to root rot (I think I overwatered), but this option seems breathable like lechuza. Any trusted brand?

Fluval is the brand. :) it’s basically aquatic volcanic soil and should help.

I would say rip it if but my only problem with that is it might take the small one with it. And alocasa are difficult so I believe u can save it but mabey leve the leaf alone I fear taking the big could take the small off two. I would normally say put it in water but alocasia are different then normal plants so see what others say
