# Can someone tell me what I need to do to help this poor plant… it was…

Can someone tell me what I need to do to help this poor plant… it was super full then lost a lot of leaves, then it kind of came back and now it’s sad again… still produces new leaves so I have some hope I just don’t know what to do at this point, it’s about a year old.

How often are you watering her? Does she get enough light? In several of the pics, the blinds are closed during the day. If that’s the case a lot of the time, she’s not getting the light she needs.

I open the blinds every day and move it over to the window. I was watering it but I ended up putting one of those self water bulbs in it.. so you think that’s watering it too much maybe?

I think it’s probably getting too much water. You might try removing that bulb thing. Let the top of the soil dry out a bit before you water. You could take her out of the pot, get all that wet soil away from the roots and then put her back into new soil.

Okay! I will try that. Thank you so much

They also don’t like tap water too much, if you are using any unfiltered water.

I see a saucer under the wicker pot. Does this mean that pot has drain holes? A lot of those wicker pots have a plastic lining and no drainage so this would be a potential problem. Over watering can be an issue with most plants but definitely with Chinese evergreen. Some of the leaves look like they're curling. If it lives by the window, it could be getting too cold, especially if there's a draft. Green varieties of Chinese evergreen will tolerate low light but as previously mentioned if the blinds are closed a lot it may need a little more light but not direct sunlight.

Yes it drains, that’s why I added that.
It could be due to getting cold every there, I open the blinds every day and move it closer to the light. I was watering it on my own but ended up adding one of those self watering bulbs to it, do you think maybe that’s the issue?
It was a plant my fiancé took home from his grandfathers funeral, he really likes it but I do not have a green thumb lol I’m just trying to keep it alive for him.

I use those watering bulbs sometimes but in your case I think it might be keeping the soil to damp. It's probably a combination of things maybe too cold and too wet.

Okay thank you so much!

Have you looked at the roots? Maybe needs a repot?
