I know it was a year ago that I got this guy at LOWES and their outdoor, back of store, grave yard discount Clearance rack.

However it was not until February 2024 that I began to journal the plant in Planta.

The app tells me this front stair is too much light for the plant. Which is odd since someone here told me they are tropical plants of the Hawaiian Islands..

The “too bright” warning in just so incorrect all of the time here in this house. For the location where this guy is sitting, he will get “direct” sunlight from 1PM to 4PM. At 1PM the sun will appear over the house. It is shaded and the shade gets bigger each week. Same thing for when the sun hides behind the homes across the street.

I’m glad the plant looks so good but I do not think it or I will make it through another Winter unstressed.

Any easy advice for when I do need to bring this guy in doors?

I get a lot of “placed too dark” when using my “moderate shade” site with moderate shade plants (Nerve, Alocasia).

The whole “light” business still puzzles me. Like, a whole wall of cactus growing under supermarket lights and nothing else between April and October 2023.

It looks great!😍 I gave you the advice to give it more sun. It looks much better since your last post.

You will need grow lights if you can’t give it direct sunlight in winter. I would place a single pendant light above it within a foot. Lighting options are many. Choose the right one/set for you.

I agree with Dave. The Lowes I frequent have their indoor plants packed on dark shelves with no shelf lighting and they look great in the store. You do better to go with your instincts.🍀🪴
