Someone showed me a bunch of sticks and asked sort of what I thought about taking them. I put up my usual “I know succulents” until taking a moment to think.

This is Wolf Lichen (I added it here as moss, but whatever) or Letharia Vulpina. It is used as a dye and was/is also toxic to mammals. (Because I have dogs, I have a big protective thing around it just in case - though they walk through whatever the heck is outdoors on walks four times a day.)

It grows on bark. That’s all my art head needed. The most low-key pollution meter (yeah, I’m going to cite my lichen’s mood now, a lot) and “how far can a living organism be pushed?” experiment all on a piece of bark shoved in the corner of a garage. Word.
