Day 1 vs Day 111 (today!)

Streptocarpus ionanthus aka African Violet!

So cute and small ⚯̫ from Brooklyn Botanical Garden in NYC… if anyone knows the cultivar of this one please don’t hesitate to leave a comment..💜

(Yes her name is literally “Tiny” LOL)

If you don't have a tag or any name that came with it, it must be considered a no ID, because there are around 20,000 african violet cultivars and there are many that are visually too similar to tell apart without dna tests or a tag. That said, the african violet society of America keeps records on cultivars, and has a nice gallery with photos of over 3,000 of them. (They also have the master list with all 20,000+ available. It's listed in their store as the "first class for all" software) so you can at least find similar cultivars if you're willing to dig through those. If you'd like to get a proper cultivar name for yours, enter it in shows; one of the things you get when you earn awards is the right to name the plant if it was a NOID. Tiny looks very happy and would fit right in at showing
