Interesting that your plants are not in very big pots and yet still thriving! One of mine is out rooting its pot and needs to be re-potted but I’m nervous that if I do it will become unhappy and die.

Don’t be scared! Its all apart of the fun and the learning experience ;)

If you know for sure it needs to be repotted, then just make sure to use the right soil for the plant and do it a day or two after your watering task, this makes it easier to remove the plant without doing any damage. If your plant is happy and you have no concerns then don’t mess with the rootball too much. You can gently loosen them so they’re not as compact, but leave most if the soil and roots alone. Go up 1-2” in pot size. Wait a few days to water (as the soil it moves with should still have lots of moisture in it).

Roots coming out the bottom are a good sign of needing to up size, but not a rule. A plant can push roots out the bottom with still having lots of room in its pot, When you slide your plant out you want at least 50% (usually more) roots to soil. If its less than that then its totally fine where it is. Just slide it back into the pot like nothing ever happened :)
