I’m Brittany, and I’m new to Planta. 👋🏼 I’ll start by saying: I need a shock collar that prevents me from going down plant aisles. 😂 Went to Walmart to get bird seed, which is conveniently next to all of their planters. Got a few cute planters, which clearly meant I needed to find plants to fill them. It’s definitely a suiting nickname for them! ☺️ Even though I have a ton of house plants, I’m still learning names and such. #### Sunny svarte den 2025-06-05 I didn’t fool with scientific names until I got a lot of plants online. Sometimes using only the common names means I miss out when searching for plants on sale. I now do multiple searches with common names, scientific names and misspellings!😄 Misspelled plants get discounted because they don’t appear in standard searches and can take longer to sell. #### abitofbrit svarte den 2025-06-05 That’s really good to know with the misspellings! I do something that I like to call “plant and pray” - plant something and pray it works out. 😆 So far, so good, but I’m hoping Planta will take some of the guesswork out of the plant care. I'm constantly in there looking through everything. Also Walmart totally upped their planter game this year all for mostly under $10 and you just can't beat it! #### abitofbrit svarte den 2025-06-05 Yes! I got a couple of mine at Walmart. I know the Silver Monstera is from there, and I know I got others from there, but I can’t remember which ones. The five newbies came from Home Depot – I’ve surprisingly found a lot of hidden gems at Home Depot! #### Katomarose svarte den 2025-06-06 I'm on the hunt for peperomia's at my local garden centers. So far haven't seen any, but I've heard they carry them sometimes. My Walmart had a silver sword philidendron and I almost got it but I had to stop myself due to lack of space haha #### abitofbrit svarte den 2025-06-06 You have more self control than I do! I ran out of space a long time ago. 😂 As far as peperomias, try Home Depot! I have three, and I believe I got all three from there. I believe the varieties I have are a string of coins, a rubber plant and a “red margin.” #### Sunny svarte den 2025-06-06 I love the discount racks at Home Depot at the end of season while they get ready for the fall holidays.
