# My tropical hibiscus appears to be healthy but it has stopped…

_Posted by AnnB on 2026-08-21_

My tropical hibiscus appears to be healthy but it has stopped blooming with new buds dropping off. Is it just because it’s 100+ degrees these days? I’m in zone 8b and it gets morning sun.

Any advice would be appreciated!

You might posting this on an other thread. Did you try the Doctor Planta AI feature?

Thanks @Plantingsherry. I realized last night I should have gone that way. I posted there and it lmk that a healthy plant with buds dropping is a sign of not getting enough water.

The first year I had this tropical hibiscus I almost killed it with my love (aka watering watering watering). I guess I overcompensated a little 🤪

Have you tried mixing a bit of baking soda or sea salt to the soil? They like a bit of alkalinity in their soil, less water is more and try misting after the sun goes down…

Cindy, thank you! I’ll implement those suggestions 🥰
