hi everyone ((: i always see people ask about alocasia jacklyn’s so i decided to make a post on how i care for mine because it’s somehow still doing very well.

this is jimmy ii. i kept him in the nursery pot for 1 weeks after bringing him home, because the soil was dripping wet. i repotted into ceramic of the same sized pot, in a perlite heavy, soil and perlite mix. it really likes being able to breathe with all the perlite, otherwise it will drown the roots. i water him about once a week/ week and a half. \& i water with fertilizer every other time. i do mist him every other day, but i know that’s being debunked right now. so i’m working on cutting it back. he is 6ft from a south window, and i make sure he never gets any sunlight on the leaves at all, otherwise he will burn. he lives in a glass cabinet on a plant stand, with a small bowl of lecca and water underneath for humidity. there is a grow light on the top of the cabinet, but other plants on the top shelf shield him from getting too much of that light. he does not like the cold at all, i keep him in a place that stays above 70degree f. or very close to it. he also doesn’t like cold drafts, which is why i keep him in a cabinet with no air flow, besides when i open the cabinet a few times a day. this is what i do for him, and he puts out a new leaf every month!! it’s so exciting. he’s only just now losing one of his younger leaves.

i dont recommend humidifiers in grow cabinets. i know everyone has their own way to take care of plants and that is wonderful! just wanted to put a thought out. if you have your plant in an extremely humid cabinet, it has a higher chance of struggling if you ever go to move it, because it will never have that environment again. once they get too big for the cabinet, and need to be removed, they will go into shock and not be happy with the lack of the humidity that they’re used to, and will start to show their struggle. just something to keep in mind!! :P
