# My Crotons: Cara, Sunny, Gold Dust Woman and Crouton (yes like the…

My Crotons: Cara, Sunny, Gold Dust Woman and Crouton (yes like the crunchy bread that goes in salads). Calling this the croton corner! 🪴✨ The croton is one of my favorite plants honestly, but they can be fussy and temperamental.

Cara is having a growth spurt, and has a new leaf and two budding leaves.

The other three younger crotons were a big box store graveyard find, each were $3 a piece. I kept them in the planter pots for over a week in my mud room away from my other plants because I noticed the soil was pretty soggy and muddy, and there were a few gnats. The gnats died off/ disappeared, the soil dried out, and I repotted into clay/ terra-cotta with drainage holes and a custom soil mix. (I cleaned the roots well and got all the old soil off of the plants before putting them in the new soil just because of the gnat problem). All three had really strong established root balls so I feel like they will thrive in the new soil/ pots.
