# My Avocado plant started shedding bottom leaves a while back while…

My Avocado plant started shedding bottom leaves a while back while trying to branch out. At this point he’s lost all bottom leaves. I tell myself he’s a teenager - tall, skinny, and weird. But I haven’t found any evidence online of this being true :). Appreciate any thoughts. He’s 9months old.

My guess is he’s focusing on the leaves that are most beneficial, at the top, where the grow lights hit. Lower leaves have been downsized for lack of productivity. 😄

They can be weird. Mine shed all its top leaves to grow the trunk of the tree, and then it deadheaded itself. 🤷‍♀️
