# Sooooooooooo. Arty has always had two leaves. A few weeks ago one…

Sooooooooooo. Arty has always had two leaves. A few weeks ago one leaf died and he was trying to put out a new leaf. Then finally weeks later, he put it out and it is… well..small. What am I doing wrong! Thanks in advance!

Is Arty near sunlight? They like heat and sun.

Not sure if you see mine in the back but mine stays outside and I water it from the top and bottom. I also use fertilizer.

Hi!! Thank you so much for replying! He is near a grow light and he gets some humidity when I have the humidifier out for my tropical plants but no heat. Do you think I should move him outside?

Yes I would try him outside but pay close attention. I noticed one of my leaves had too much direct sun so I had to rotate. The grow light is still artificial light it may need natural light.

With smaller leaves in my experience and research one common is lighting so I would start there. Then there is proper care like watering and fertilizing so I’d experiment with that as well. Often times these plants are grown in optimal conditions before they are sold and as a result they do not preform the same in average conditions.
