# Added new plant today, Crocodile Fern’ Microsorium musifolium’.…

Added new plant today, Crocodile Fern’ Microsorium musifolium’.  
Purchased from Giants’ food store, checked rootball had the death whatever around it. Tore away as much as I could. Rootball dry, repotted in 6” plastic pot watered and cleaned.

It’s beautiful! But what is this death thingy? I’ve read about it twice now and I think that my lemon button fern might have it. I thought it was just incredibly root bound, but I can’t break it up.

Use your fingers or a fork gently or forcefully like I did 😁😴

I used my bonsai rake and was able to get a tiny bit of the outer part off, but the rest is so dense, I can’t get through it. 😢
