Bonsais are verryyyyyyy slow growers and takes many years to reach a larger size. Bonsais are fragile and can easily be over or under watered so you gotta watch out for that. My bonsai sits in a spot where it gets most sun and some shade. That’s impressive that you grew it from seeds!!

Thank you! This is honestly my first plant that I’ve sowed and cared for, so I’m just as impressed myself 😂 The windowsill my trees are sitting in get a great amount of sunlight early in the day and some early afternoon light and a decent amount of shade later in the day. I’ve noticed they can be extremely sensitive to the amount of water being used and too much/little sunlight. I’m excited to see these little buds grow!

It sounds like they have everything they need and will grow well!!!

They look healthy and happy! 💚 Congratulations! Bonsai are simply little trees, so let them grow a little stronger before repotting them. I wouldn’t use akadama yet as these guys are technically pre-bonsai until you trim the roots. Depending on how small you want to keep them, I’d first repot them into regular nursery pots (with regular potting mix with perlite) to limit root development. When they’re about the height you want them to be, you can transfer them to bonsai training pots. I usually don’t use akadama until the tree is more mature (5 years or so) and the roots, height, and fullness are where I want them to be. Can’t wait to see how they grow! 💚

I got those as a gift. I have one still alive and it is super slow growing. Please keep posting your progress.

I just bought a kit of some seeds from Amazon 😬

That’s where I got mine! I figured the worst that could happen is, they don’t grow 😅
