# My money tree and maiden hair fern have a new friend… painters pallet…

My money tree and maiden hair fern have a new friend… painters pallet or watermelon begonia… but can anybody identify the begonia with purple spotty/ pointy leaves? Close up pic in the comments. Probably kinda crowded but I need to get more pot liners.

It’s definitely a Rex begonia but it’s true there are thousands of varieties. I just searched it with PictureThis and it could not identify this specific variety. It’s pretty cute though!

It could very well be a hybrid of a couple different Rex begonias.

It came from a local woman to supplies begonias to a shop I go to. I didn’t get to meet her… but the person working in the shop said they’d never seen one like it.

I know nothing about begonias but your Money Tree is gorgeous! And the fern too!

The fern had a fungus…. So I had to cut it all the way down and just hope that it grew back… in about 3 months it did!
