# The diva that forced me to upgrade from a Detolf that she took over,…

The diva that forced me to upgrade from a Detolf that she took over, to a Milsbo. Back in December 2021, I cut it down to a stump because the new leaves kept getting stuck and dying. Kept up the watering schedule, it bounced back and took over the cabinet. This newest leaf is still very soft so I’m curious to see how large it gets.

Thank you! It’s not done yet. I have custom shelves on the way so it won’t be completed for another 2 weeks.

I’ve wanted to get into these plants so badly, BECAUSE of this one. I just haven’t because I know it’ll hate my face. 😅

Ok, so this is actually the very first anthurium I ever owned and I was VERY intimidated. Like helicopter plant parent. I swear once you figure out the humidity and soil moisture, they’re way less maintenance than you think. Expensive to buy? Absolutely.

I actually cut this one down because the leaves kept getting stuck (humidity issue on my part) but it bounced back within a few months with regular watering and survived a move in the middle of summer. The only trick is to really pay attention when a new leaf is emerging. Try to keep the soil moist, and bump up the humidity. The only reason why the newest leaf has that crazy chunk taken out is because I didn’t realize the filter in my humidifier needed to be changed so I couldn’t get the humidity percentage right and this is like… a couple weeks of just not paying attention 😅

I currently have 4 anthuriums: magnificum, crystallinum, regale and clarinervium. And they all live in the “Diva Cabin.”

I LOVE that name, “Diva Cabinet.” 😂
Of the 4 Anthuriums that you have, are any of them less finicky then the others? Or are they pretty much the “Mean Girls” of your collection” 😄
I’ve actually made a habit of spraying my Monsteras/philodendrons when they have new leaves forming with that exact thought in mind. Figured it was helpful and keeps the leaves from catching. These are no where NEAR as humidity sensitive, of course, as the anthuriums.

LOL now I’m rethinking the name of my cabinet to “The Mean Girls.” 🤣

I think my A. regale is more finicky than the rest. Honestly, I’ll be naming her Regina, now! It seems like that one needs the humidity to be veeeery consistent compared to the others that seem to tolerate some change/adjustment! And the new leaves emerge different on the regale than my other three, so I’m sure that has something to do with it.
