Found this new pot, it’s Terra cotta in a watering pot giving it a try for the first time. I think it may work but I’ve never used Terra cotta before. Any tips?

Yes. It stores water for a while, but doesn't slow release unless more water comes or it truly gets dry. Be sure that the soil is still getting wet underneath with a finger as otherwise the terracotta can be deceiving.
