# Hello all! I’m new here and relatively new to indoor plants. I used…

Hello all! I’m new here and relatively new to indoor plants. I used to have planted, aquascaped aquariums and have always enjoyed outdoor container gardening, thus “relatively new.” Wanted to share my two calatheas (rattlesnake and warcscewiczii)! I’m in CO, so humidifiers pepper my office, (eastern facing with a huge window). I’m finding topping with moss is helping with humidity and preventing drying out too quickly. I’ve got them in tropical houseplant soil (that has tiny amounts of lava rock) heavily amended with horticultural charcoal, perlite, orchid bark mix and leca to ensure good drainage. Hope all are enjoying their day!

Thank you! I snagged it on sale for $9 at my local nursery! Super lucky to have found it way in the back!

Great looking plants. Mt rattlesnake is one of my favorites (maybe my favorite) that I own. In personal experience, I found that Calatheas, in general, but my rattlesnake in particular, are doing so much better in self watering pots with wicks. It keeps the soil just where they like it to be. He is also sensitive to fertilizer as well; If I give more than once a month, he has a temper tantrum and starts to yellow a bit... Love how expressive they are with their leaves! Enjoy your new plant buddies
