# Hello guys! First time Calathea owner here, and need a bit of advice.…

Hello guys!

First time Calathea owner here, and need a bit of advice.

I noticed that the leaves of my plant form some kind of really sticky residue, especially close to the edges. I can see some dust and other nasty stuff getting stuck in there, and I guess my main question is: is that normal?

Should I clean it off or does it like to cover itself in goop?😭 Is this natural or some kind of infection? Is it a light/humidity thing?

Thankful for any kind of advice:’)

Your plant is beautiful. I don’t have the same type of calathea as you do, but mine does not produce a sticky residue on the leaves. I recommend wiping it of with mild soap and water or diluted alcohol and monitor for pests.
