# My rattlesnake calathea started spreading from the mother plant…

My rattlesnake calathea started spreading from the mother plant earlier this year and now has TEN new leaves happening all at once. They’re so awesome to watch unfurl!

Best suggestions for care? I just got mine but would happily follow your regimen!?

Mine gets about 8 hours of bright indirect light daily. It’s about 6 feet from east facing sliding doors. Planta tells me it’s too dark, but clearly not lol.

It’s in fox farm ocean forest. I water when the soil is totally dry. I fertilize with every other water when it’s putting out leaves, which seems to be always lol. I never mist but every once in a while in the drier months I’ll give it a pass with a handheld steamer

They don’t want their roots to be messed with so repot sparingly. Once you get it into a good spot try to leave it there. The second plant is so much bigger than the original as it came to be in these conditions, so I won’t be changing anything any time soon.
