# This is my cat Mia. She loves to explore all the plants in my house,…

This is my cat Mia. She loves to explore all the plants in my house, including mine in my room. I always just keep my door shut when I’m out so she can’t get in but then it gets hot and sometimes I don’t want it closed. I do have some plants that are toxic to cats but I know she’s tried to eat at least one or two of them and she’s been perfectly fine, but I don’t want her eating my plants. We tried cat grass but that didn’t work and it eventually died. I used to have a spider plant, one tiny ugly one and another one I was propagating in water. She’d always eat them up so I gave up on them, but maybe I should give her her own spider plant to chew in my room instead of my other plants? Any advice would be appreciated 😭 don’t want my plants ruined and don’t want her eating toxic things

Best thing I ever did was grow my cats some cat grass! The seed is super cheap on Amazon and it lasts about a week once it’s grown up. It helps with belly issues and it’s all around good for them!

Thank you so much! Should I keep it in my room or away from my other plants?

I usually make 2 little batches and put them near their favorite spots (cat towers, favorite sleeping spot). I don’t put it by my plants but it’s in the same room. I make sure I tell them how good they are for eating their cat grass and not my plants

If she will go for spider plants i’d consider getting one just for her if it keeps her occupied/happy/safe. What I’m not sure about is where you should keep her plant, that’s more trial and error lol. Maybe get 2 little ones so she has an option in both your bedroom and elsewhere?

Also, I grew a pot with a mixture of cat grass (oat, barley, catnip and alfalfa I think?) and my boy loved it so much he wouldn’t let it grow lol. Only problem is he started pulling the dirt up because he evolved into a cow, so i had to take the bowl away before I had him digging too much lol

😂 thanks so much I’ll try both

Honestly I would advise against this. As it’s cute and seems harmless, in the long run spider plants can cause vomiting and diarrhea. They mainly like spider plants due to them having a slight hallucinogenic effect for cats. Cat grass has a mix of barley, nip, wheat and other ingredients great for cats bellies, fur, and overall health.
