# Any experts on vanilla orchids in here? It's been on my wishlist…

Any experts on vanilla orchids in here? It's been on my wishlist since FOREVER and finally got my hands on her today. Here's a photo. I'm very excited and put it right up to my humidifier, removed any yellowing or dying leaves, and misted as soon as I got home. Was a little neglected with dry potting mix. I ask because I hear they can be quite difficult, and want to know if there are any tips or things you do in your care regimine. Thanks in advance!

The biggest issue I have is breaking off the growing tip. Luckily it just activates another node and off we go again.

Otherwise I think it’s relatively easy orchid to care for. But I am pretty much resigned to no blooms because I don’t have the room for a mature plant. Maybe one day when Mr Pi builds that greenhouse he keeps talking about 🤞

Right now I have mine under grow lights (on 12hrs a day) with my cattleyas and dendrobiums. In the summer it’s outside (and loves the heat and sun).
