# I don’t understand why orchids have the reputation for being high…

I don’t understand why orchids have the reputation for being high maintenance. Over the past month I have not been able to pay as much attention to the collection. The Easter cactus, anthurium and bougainvillea are throwing fits, while the orchids are acting like they don’t need me. I’m even getting a flush of new flowers. 😸

Recently I’ve been thinking about reducing the number of plants in my collection, and now I have a good idea which I’d weed out first. 😈

I agree with your comments. I think they’ve gotten a bad rep over the years as being high maintenance, but in my experience they are pretty hardy and happy to be left alone!

Got orchid last year I believe and I just repot her because it was keep growing and bloomed two flowers so up 1/2 inches more cleaned her and gave good soak  
Had to trim the dead roots  
Potted her in orchid potting soil, black gold all purpose soil and perlite  
So far she’s looking good she has five buds not sure what it’s called  
Can’t wait to see her to thrive much more better

We’ve mentioned that you really shouldn’t use all purpose potting mix for orchids and you will end up with root rot… it really would be a good idea to repot it.
